Announcing our new Chair, Carol Rame!
Carol Rame, MFA-P™ Senior Gift Planner Development Department Salvation Army, Ontario Division Carol Rame has a background in Business, HR, Accounting and Entrepreneurial studies, and had owned and operated her successful business for several years. Her passion and philanthropy for the Arts led her to previous volunteer positions as a Board Member of the Burlington New Millennium Orchestra (BNMO), and Board Member for the Arts and Culture Council of Burlington (ACCOB). Carol has earned her Master Financial Advisor - Philanthropy (MFA-P) and certification in Indigenous Studies in Canada and enjoys her current role as Legacy Giving Officer with The Salvation Army. Carol proudly volunteers as a CAGP Executive Committee Member, and as our current Chair. Carol's philanthropic efforts also supports students through her established award at Conestoga College, the Michael Racheter Robotics & Engineering Memorial Scholarship Fund. When she has a spare moment, she can be found enjoying yoga, painting, theatre, travel, and spending time with her two children, husband, and dog Bella.

Lisa Bono (she/her), CP Planned Giving & Estates Officer Hamilton Health Sciences Foundation
Lisa a fundraising professional with over ten years of experience. Her certification as a Paralegal has assisted her in her current role of Planned Giving & Estates Officer with the estate administration within Hamilton Health Sciences Foundation, as well in conversations with donors regarding their estate plans and planned gifts. She received her BA in Law at Carlton University, as well as her Paralegal & Institute of Law Clerks at Seneca College. Lisa will begin her MFA-P certification this Spring and looks forward to assisting more donors plan their legacy.

Gillian’s Place I have a passion for community and working with agencies and people that support Niagara’s most vulnerable. With over five years experience in the not-for-profit sector, I have a proven track-record of helping various organizations in achieving annual development targets. I have a passion for providing an exceptional donor experience, and am skilled in donor relations and individual giving, with keen interest in major and legacy giving. In 2019, I joined Gillian’s Place as Manager of Community Development with prior experience from United Way Niagara and St. Joseph’s Healthcare Foundation in Hamilton. As well as being a graduate of the University of the Guelph’s Master of Arts Leadership program, I am a certified Sommelier through both Niagara College, The Canadian Association of Professional Sommeliers and The Court of Master Sommeliers. In my current role as Director of Development & Communications at Gillian’s Place, I am part of a dynamic team who work tirelessly to end gender-based violence in Niagara. Inspired by this dedicated team and those we serve, fostering and nurturing meaningful community relationships is not only fulfilling, but helps fund priority programs that enable survivors to break the cycle of violence and abuse.

Niagara Children’s Centre Marla Smith is a strategic and accomplished leader with over 15 years experience in delivering high impact results through strategy development and relationship building. For the last five years she has worked at the Director of Development at Niagara Children’s Centre and fundraises to support children and their families who need physical therapy and/or communicative support services. Marla loves building meaningful relationships, using data to inform decisions, strategic planning, major gifts and legacy giving and I have a wealth of practical experience and knowledge in strategic cultivation that leads to meaningful stewardship and love being a part of a team that enables other to succeed and achieve success.
In 2020, I achieved the Certified Fund-Raising Executive (CFRE) status, a certification indicating the highest standards of competence and ethical practice in philanthropy.
